Cadet Christopher John Collins of Clark , achieved Dean’s List status at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina , for the spring semester of the 2010-2011 academic year. Collins is seeking a BA in Criminal Justice. Dean’s List recognition is given to those cadets and active duty military students registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work. Collins is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Collins.

Students from the area were recognized during Widener University’s 2011 Honors Week. Nicole Nardone of Garwood , was recognized as a member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology Psi Chi aims to encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in scholarship of its individual members and to advance the science of psychology. Members of Psi Chi have completed at least nine semester hours of psychology courses, have a grade point average of ate least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and are within the top 35 percent of their class.

Skidmore College celebrated the achievements of the Class of 2011 at the college’s 100th Commencement exercises held Saturday, May 21, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Local student Jonathan Sheflin of Westfield received a BA degree.

The Comcast Foundation , founded in 1999 to provide charitable support to its local communities and to empower and enrich lives, awarded 69 New Jersey high school seniors scholarships through its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program. The program, one of the Comcast Foundation’s signature community investment programs, recognizes students’ leadership skills, academic achievement and commitment to community service. Jack Philip Sternal of Westfield , was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and biotechnology with distinction.
