Какой программой лучше всего просматривать изображения, хранящиеся на компьютере? Лет десять назад на этот вопрос был один ответ: пиратская версия ACDSee. Но со временем коммерческой вьювер потерял былую популярность. С одной стороны, ACDSee обросла новыми, зачастую ненужными пользователям функциями, отчего уменьшилась скорость работы. С другой - пришла мода на использование бесплатного и открытого ПО. В начале 2000-х ACDSee имела двух популярных бесплатных конкурентов: XnView и IrfanView. Ваш покорный слуга пытался ими пользоваться, но что-то не срослось. По счастью, в 2004 году вышла первая версия вьювера FastStone Image Viewer. Пробный запуск показал - это то, что нужно. Программа очень удобная и быстрая. И служит мне до сих пор.

Чтобы запустить программу, нужна любая ОС от Windows 98SE и старше (поддерживаются 32- и 64-битые версии). Компьютер должен удовлетворять всего двум требованиям: ОЗУ не меньше 256 Мб и 10 Мб на жестком диске для папки с программой. Дистрибутив весит всего 5,15 Мб. С официального сайта можно скачать .exe, .zip (запакованная программа, не требующая установки) или portable-версию. Коммерческую лицензию можно приобрести в интернет-магазине "Софткей" . Для сравнения, ACDSee Photo Manager 12 требует ОЗУ 512 Мб (1 Гб рекомендуется), 250 Мб на жестком диске (инсталляк весит 67 Мб), ОС Windows XP SP2/Vista/7 и ряд дополнительно установленных приложений.

Программа поддерживает не так много форматов. Типы открываех файлов: JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, PCX, TGA, JPEG 2000, PSD, WMF, CUR, ICO, EPS. Сохранять изображения можно в следующие форматы: JPEG, BMP, GIF, PNG, TIFF, PCX, TGA, JPEG 2000, PDF. Список поддерживаемых форматов не так велик, как у конкурентов, но, по статистике, большинство пользователей регулярно работают только с пятью-семью популярными форматами. Также, что немаловажно в век цифровой фотографии, поддерживается просмотр RAW-форматов - как универсального DNG от Adobe, так и крупнейших производителей фотокамер (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Panasonic, Fuji, Oplymus, Minolta). RAW-файлы можно сохранить как JPEG или TIFF, но провести полноценную конвертацию невозможно. Также следует знать, что RAW-файлы просматриваются медленнее других форматов картинок.

Basic but decent number of tweaks. This little tweaker from Microsoft should be a default program that comes within Windows XP installation. Tweak UI is possible to add in control panel as a shortcut. I’m always muckin’ about with icons, themes etc. and this little tool was/is fun to play with. It simply makes registry changes safely and has caused no harm nor slowing on my PC. I really liked getting rid of the waving flag in IE6 in favor of a rotating globe.

here’s no doubt that the freeware Tweak UI is a tool designed for people comfortable and confident with mucking about in the guts of their Windows XP installation. If that’s not you, we strongly caution against using this program capriciously.

However, if you’re the kind of person who likes to get your hands dirty with XP customizations, read on. Tweak UI can alter most of the routine behaviors of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, but it also can affect some of the more advanced ones, too. From customizing the Alt Tab program switcher to removing the white arrow that appears on shortcut icons, from killing the autoplay feature for specific drives to configuring file and print sharing settings, Tweak UI is a must-have.

The interface is basic, but that’s all the program needs. Use the left-nav tree to select settings to tweak, and the subchoices appear in the center pane. Old installation problems have been resolved by a standard self-extracting EXE, making this program not only useful but easy to install. Still, to prevent unwanted or potentially damaging alterations, we recommend that only power users confident in making these changes go ahead and use Tweak UI.
