Picar builds tallest residential building

Picar Development, Inc., a luxury residential condominium developer, said that it will bank on information technology for the success of its Stratford Residences, set to be the tallest residential building in the country.

Ambassador Amable Aguiluz V, chairman and president of Picar Development,

said the company’s affiliation to the IT industry would set it apart from competition that includes the veterans and big names of the property development market.

As the real estate arm of the AMA Group of Companies, Picar Development will come up with a very intelligent building with features like biometrics technology and other security services that will function efficiently.

Picar has teamed up with Holcim Philippines Inc., one of the country’s leading cement manufacturer, to build the "superstructure."

Stratford Residences is set to be a high-end 70-storey building that will rise to a towering 312 meters upon its completion in 2015.

"We decided to build the Stratford Residences because we want to differentiate ourselves among the industry players by coming out with an iconic structure," aid Aguiluz.

"We envision this project as something the market would appreciate as an exclusive development for upscale clients," Aguiluz added.

Picar Development’s partnership with Holcim’s ready-mix (RMX) unit to come up with a high-strength mix that is ideal for the construction of the Stratford Residences.

"This partnership shows our commitment to provide our customers with solutions for their building needs," said Roland van Winjen, chief operating officer of Holcim Philippines.

"We understand that these types of project have very specialized requirements so we ensure that we not only provide quality products, but also make sure our services are appreciated and valued," Winjen added.

Situated along Kalayaan avenue in Makati which is close to the central business district, shopping malls, and educational institutions, Stratford Residences will mostly aim for the young and dynamic market.

Picar added foreigners who have security in mind as well as the OFWs as the other primary market targets.

Picar Development has invested more than $400 million in its current upscale commercial and residential developments which includes five-star hotel, offices, retail, buildings, and residential condominiums.

Holcim Philippines, Inc. Breaks Its Silence

Holcim Philippines, Inc. HLCM the Philippine Stock Exchange is in the business of producing cement and concrete. Last Friday, the shares jumped out of the radar screen when it unexpectedly increased 10.62%.

HLCM was one of the best-performing stocks in 2010. It opened in 2010 to only 4.75 and peaked at PHP 16.26 PHP in December. Should buying interest remains, HLCM could aim for its initial target at PHP 14.00. A move past that could then send it back to around PHP 16.00.
