Senior Taekwondo Master testing for 8th degree black belt
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Senior Master Kathy Lee's testing will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 24, in Governor's Hall 1 at the Statehouse Convention Center. That is where the ATA Songham World Championships are taking place this week.
Eight years ago, Lee received her seventh-degree designation. Since that time, she has prepared herself for the stringent testing of eighth degree, including passing physical tests that follow a military guideline. She will perform in front of the top ATA masters in sparring, board breaking and taekwondo forms, 30 of which she crafted herself.
Her taekwondo training began in 1980 because of school bullies and turned into a career and lifestyle. Over 30 years of international martial arts training will culminate in this one testing.
Lee is the founder of Arkansas ATA Martial Arts. She owns 6 schools in the Little Rock area with over 1000 active students and 30 employees.
Her schools have produced world champions and master instructors. She is an international Protech weapons training instructor for the ATA.
She appears as a guest Tuesday on Today's THV at 6:30 p.m. with THV's Dawn Scott and Craig O'Neill.
