Three Dallas police officers were wounded when they answered a shooting call Monday night at a Pleasant Grove apartment complex, according to police.
The officers, whose names were not released, were taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas in good shape, police said.
The suspect, 27-year-old Steven Ray Jones, was arrested and is being held at the Dallas County Jail. He faces three counts of assault on a public servant.
At about 8:45 p.m., officers responded to the shooting call in the 8100 block of Scyene Circle. After learning there was a victim inside, the officers kicked open the door of an apartment, police spokesman Warren Mitchell said.
Jones fired multiple rounds toward the officers, police said. No officers were hit directly, but the three officers were injured when bullet fragments ricocheted off the wall.
The officers backed out of the apartment and called for Jones to surrender, which he eventually did. No officers discharged their weapons, Mitchell said.
A victim with gunshot wounds to both legs was found in the apartment and taken to Baylor in critical condition, police said.

Someone in the crowd then returned fire. Police found Cleveland unconscious about a block away in a pickup truck. He was taken to Baylor University Medical Center where he died. The two injured men were also taken to Baylor and are expected to recover.
